EOW Kashmir Files Chargesheet Against Seven in SSA School Funds Case

Investigators say SSA money for a Hampora Kralgund school was released even as key facilities were left unbuilt.

Overview

  • The Economic Offences Wing filed the chargesheet before the Court of Special Anti-Corruption Judge Baramulla in FIR No. 43/2018.
  • The case cites offences under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code read with Section 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act.
  • The probe found Rs 5,73,592 was released by the then ZEO Langate, with most payments routed through the first teacher of Primary School Hampora.
  • Investigators allege SSA guidelines were bypassed by not executing work through the Village Education Committee and by altering the approved three-room plan to a double-storey, four-room structure.
  • Officials say the building was not handed over to the Education Department, enabling alleged illegal occupation, and the EOW reiterated its commitment to pursue corruption cases.
