Overview
- E.ON and Germany’s national consumer group reached an out-of-court deal that sets flat-rate payouts for late final electricity bills and includes a pledge to meet the six-week legal deadline.
- People qualify if they ended an E.ON power contract between March 20, 2024 and April 30, 2026 and waited longer than six weeks for the closing invoice.
- Claims pay €15 for bills under €500 if a complaint or consumer-center counseling was logged by April 30, 2026, or €30 for bills over €500 without that step, and E.ON will also refund up to €30 for documented counseling fees with a €60 cap.
- Former customers must check eligibility via the consumer group’s online tool and then file a request through E.ON’s contact form at eon.de/verbraucheranfragen.
- The agreement follows a VZBV court win in March 2024 and a subsequent enforcement push after ongoing complaints about delays that made supplier switches harder and left balances unresolved.
