Overview

  • Environment and Climate Change Canada is investigating eight possible tornado touchdowns that were reported across southern Saskatchewan on June 19.
  • The suspected twisters were reported near Young, southeast of Saskatoon; in Regina-area communities of Davin, Odessa and Hubbard; and near Frobisher and Hirsch east of Estevan.
  • Meteorologists are analyzing radar data, storm spotter and storm chaser footage, and public submissions of photos and damage reports to confirm occurrences.
  • If validated, the eight tornadoes would represent an unusually high number for a single day in Saskatchewan.
  • Saskatchewan has already recorded four confirmed tornadoes this season, with the peak severe weather months of July through September still ahead.
