Officers responded around 12:30 a.m. to the Denny’s at 275 W. Hampden Avenue after reports that a suspect pulled a knife on an employee and tried to stab them. Police say they found the suspect in a bathroom; he produced a knife, charged at officers, and stabbed one officer in the shoulder. Another officer fired, struck the suspect, and officers disarmed him before rendering medical aid. The injured officer was treated at a hospital and released, while the suspect remains hospitalized with his condition not disclosed. Investigators say the suspect will be booked into the Arapahoe County Jail on charges once medically cleared, the involved officers are on paid administrative leave, and police report no ongoing threat while seeking tips from the public.
