Mark Wood, England's 35-year-old fast bowler, has undergone knee surgery following ligament damage sustained during the Champions Trophy in Pakistan last month.
The injury occurred during England's group-stage loss to Afghanistan, where Wood continued to bowl despite visible discomfort.
Wood is expected to be out for at least four months, effectively ruling him out of May's one-off Test against Zimbabwe and the five-Test series against India starting June 20.
His absence also means missing six white-ball matches against the West Indies scheduled for the summer.
