England’s GP Patient Survey 2025 Reveals High Satisfaction Despite Contact Challenges

With trust at 92.5%, the annual Ipsos-run survey underlines where policymakers must focus to improve phone access

  • The survey, conducted by NHS England with Ipsos between December 30 and April 1, invited 2.72 million patients and recorded a 25.8% response rate with 702,837 completed questionnaires.
  • Nationally, 75.4% of respondents rated their overall GP experience as good, up from last year, and 92.5% said they had confidence and trust in their last healthcare professional.
  • Just over half of patients (52.9%) reported that it was easy to contact their GP practice by phone, highlighting appointment access as the survey’s biggest challenge.
  • Four GP practices—Royal Hospital Chelsea, Wraysdale House Surgery, Kenneth Macrae Med Centre and New Ottershaw Surgery—achieved perfect 100% overall satisfaction, while Medicus Select Care in Enfield scored the lowest at 23%.
  • In Bolton, Halliwell Surgery 2 climbed to a 96% satisfaction rating from 77% last year, whereas the 3D Medical Centre recorded a local low of 52%.
