Overview
- BC Ferries cancelled multiple Sunday trips after a main engine turbocharger problem on the Queen of Surrey, including the 6:20 a.m., 8:40 a.m., and 11 a.m. Langdale departures and the 7:30 a.m., 9:50 a.m., and 2:55 p.m. Horseshoe Bay sailings, plus the 4:10 p.m. from Langdale.
- Regular service was slated to resume with the 12:10 p.m. Horseshoe Bay and 1:15 p.m. Langdale departures with roughly 45‑minute delays expected, and the 5:30 p.m. Monday departure from Horseshoe Bay was also cancelled.
- To move passengers, BC Ferries added two extra sailings—11:05 a.m. from Horseshoe Bay and noon from Langdale—and deployed complimentary water taxis.
- The water taxis included two 12‑passenger boats and two larger vessels carrying 38 and 40 passengers operating between the terminals at no charge.
- BC Ferries said engineers are on site working on repairs and promised to contact affected customers with rebooking options or refunds, while also citing the need to renew the aging fleet as some travellers voiced frustration over late notifications and added costs.
