Overview

  • The ED achieved a 93.6% conviction rate, with 44 convictions out of 47 cases decided under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
  • In FY2024-25, the agency launched 775 new PMLA investigations, issued 461 provisional asset attachments worth ₹30,036 crore, and restituted ₹15,261 crore to victims in 30 cases.
  • The total value of assets under provisional attachment reached ₹1.55 trillion as of March 31, 2025, reflecting a 141% increase in value compared to the previous year.
  • The ED plans to prioritize investigating Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and foreign direct investment (FDI) violations using advanced forensic tools and technology.
  • Delays in adjudicating 1,739 pending PMLA cases were attributed to systemic judicial backlogs and the complexity of financial crime investigations.
