Overview
- As of August 1, 2025, 1.7 million customers without Linky meters are charged a €7.78 fee every two months.
- Clients who refuse to self-report their consumption readings incur an additional €4.97 surcharge per billing cycle, a practice affecting about 24% of non-Linky users.
- The new charges fall under the Turpe (tarif d’utilisation des réseaux publics d’électricité) set by the CRE to fund Enedis and RTE network operations.
- Since March’s information campaign more than 100,000 requests for Linky meter installations have been recorded.
- Enedis says the fees reflect actual costs of maintaining signal transmission, conducting manual readings and performing consumption controls on legacy meters.
