Overview
- On July 13 the imperial couple concluded their eight-day state visit and departed Ulaanbaatar for Tokyo aboard the government aircraft.
- At Hustai National Park on July 12 they observed wild Przewalski’s horses and named two newborn foals “Friend” and “Love” at the request of park officials.
- Their program at the Naadam opening on July 11 included acrobatic horse displays, traditional archery demonstrations and a try at the shagai ankle-bone shooting game.
- They observed the flagship Naadam horse race on July 12, applauding over 100 five-year-old horses as they ran 20–22 km with child jockeys alongside President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh.
- Early in the visit on July 8 they laid floral tributes at the Ulaanbaatar memorial for Japanese WWII internees and later met Mongolian descendants of former POWs at the Japanese ambassador’s residence.
