Overview
- The imperial couple arrived in Kyoto on Oct. 4 for a two-night stay at Kyoto Omiya Imperial Palace and were welcomed at Kyoto Station by Governor Nishiwaki.
- They toured the Kyoto Prefectural Botanical Garden, viewing the acorn grove and outdoor “mushroom library,” orchids in a greenhouse with about 300 species, and century-old trees including a Himalayan cedar.
- The Emperor is scheduled to deliver remarks at the STS Forum opening on Oct. 5 at the Kyoto International Conference Center.
- A private visit to Katsura Imperial Villa is planned, marking Empress Masako’s first visit to the property managed by the Imperial Household Agency.
- On Oct. 6 they plan to visit the Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai site to see the UN Pavilion and the “Future of Life” exhibition and to meet pavilion representatives.
