Emmy-Winning Makeup Artist Reggie Wells Dies at 76

Renowned for his work with Oprah Winfrey and other A-list celebrities, Wells was a trailblazer in creating inclusive makeup for Black women.

Reggie Wells, renowned makeup artist and beauty industry pioneer, has passed away at the age of 76 after a long illness.
Wells was best known for his 30-year tenure as Oprah Winfrey's personal makeup artist, during which he received five Daytime Emmy nominations and won in 1995.
Beyond his work with Winfrey, Wells also worked with other A-list celebrities including Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, Aretha Franklin, and Halle Berry.
Wells was a trailblazer in the beauty industry, often creating his own foundation and powder shades to match the skin tones of his clients, particularly Black women.
Later in life, Wells returned to his hometown of Baltimore, where he provided makeovers for seniors living in retirement homes and authored a book on African American beauty techniques.
