Overview

  • On July 31 last year, an automatic camera on Banbury Road recorded Watson driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone in Oxford.
  • After pleading guilty in March under the Single Justice Procedure, Watson’s Band A fine was set at £650 and, together with £120 in costs and a £264 surcharge, totalled £1,044.
  • She did not attend the July 16 hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court and was represented by solicitor Mark Haslam, who told the court she understood and accepted the punishment.
  • Prosecutor Adrian Wilson reported that Watson had nine existing points from three earlier offences and the new penalty pushed her past the 12-point threshold, automatically disqualifying her.
  • Shortly afterwards in the same court session, former co-star Zoe Wanamaker received an identical six-month ban and £1,044 fine for a separate speeding breach.
