Emma Raducanu Withdraws from Macau Exhibition Amid Rehabilitation
2021 US Open Champion Eyes January Return, Still Lacks Dedicated Coach
- Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has withdrawn from a December exhibition match in Macau as she continues her rehabilitation from hand and foot surgeries.
- Raducanu has not played since April and has fallen to 289 in the world rankings, but will be able to use a protected ranking of 103 next year as she has not played for over six months.
- The British tennis player is still hoping to return to the tour in January, potentially at the Australian Open.
- Raducanu has been restricted to just nine matches in 2023 and in May had an operation on both of her hands and left ankle, which she injured in Auckland in the first event of the year.
- Raducanu is still yet to develop a dedicated team around her and currently does not have a full-time coach, though she is “itching” to get back to the court.
