Overview
- The new purchase, valued at $38 billion at list prices, raises Emirates’ Boeing widebody orderbook to 315 aircraft including 270 777X jets, 10 777 freighters and 35 787s.
- Emirates also signed for 130 additional GE9X engines, bringing its total GE9X commitments to 540 units to power its future 777X fleet.
- Emirates expects its first 777-9 delivery in the second quarter of 2027, after Boeing pushed the program to 2027 and recorded a $4.9 billion charge in October.
- The agreement includes options to convert part of the order to the 777-8 or to the proposed 777-10, providing support for Boeing’s ongoing 777-10 feasibility study.
- Boeing says regulators have cleared the 777X for the next certification phase and it is prioritizing transparency and stable production rates, as separate reports suggest flydubai may place a large A321neo order with Airbus while still in talks for additional 737 MAX jets.
