Emirates Launches Crypto.com Pay for AED Bookings

Crypto.com's UAE Stored Value Facilities licence is used to process dirham-settled payments, keeping the rollout limited to eligible UAE customers.

Overview

  • Emirates, which activated Crypto.com Pay on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, now lets eligible UAE residents pay for flights priced and settled in UAE dirhams using their Crypto.com accounts.
  • On mobile, customers are redirected to the Crypto.com app to approve payments and return to the Emirates app for confirmation; on desktop, users scan a QR code with the Crypto.com app to approve the charge and receive their e-ticket.
  • Crypto.com is operating under a UAE Stored Value Facilities licence approved by the Central Bank of the UAE, and Emirates says all transactions are processed in line with UAE regulatory requirements.
  • The service is limited at launch to bookings in AED and to customers with a Crypto.com account, so it does not yet offer multi-currency or a wider geographic rollout.
  • The move follows a 2025 partnership between Emirates and Crypto.com and fits Dubai's D33 cashless strategy, signalling a cautious, regulated step toward broader crypto payment options for travellers.
