Emilia and Noah have been named the most popular baby names in Germany for the third consecutive year, according to data from Knud Bielefeld's analysis of 240,000 birth records from 391 cities.
The top three names for girls are Emilia, Sophia, and Emma, while Noah, Matteo, and Elias lead the boys' rankings, reflecting little change from previous years.
Regional variations persist, with Mohammed ranking first in Berlin/Brandenburg, Mia and Matteo leading in Saxony, and Leon and Sophia topping the charts in Bavaria.
Short names with vowel-heavy patterns, such as Mia, Lia, Luca, and Theo, remain a consistent trend, while retro names like Gerda, Erwin, and Kurt are increasingly popular, especially in Saxony.
The rising popularity of the second name 'Hope' marks a shift in traditionally stable middle name preferences, climbing from outside the top 60 to rank 21 nationwide.
