Embracer Group to Close TimeSplitters Studio

Free Radical Design faces shutdown amid company-wide restructuring, leaving the future of the TimeSplitters revival uncertain.

Embracer Group is set to shut down Free Radical Design, the studio behind the TimeSplitters franchise, on December 11, 2023.
The decision was confirmed by Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors in a company email.
The closure comes as part of Embracer's major restructuring and cost-cutting drive, which has seen the company lay off around 900 people and shut down several studios.
Under UK law, a consultation period of at least 30 days must take place before any layoffs can occur, leaving a possibility for Free Radical to remain open if a third party acquires it.
The future of the TimeSplitters revival project, which Free Radical was working on, remains uncertain.
