The tournament, shortened to 54 holes due to heavy rain, concluded with Smylie delivering a bogey-free final round of 67 at Royal Queensland Golf Club.
Smith, a former British Open champion and three-time winner of the event, struggled with three front-nine bogeys and finished with a 69 in the final round.
Smylie’s win grants him a two-year exemption on the DP World Tour and follows his first professional victory at last month’s Western Australian Open.
Marc Leishman and Anthony Quayle tied for third, with Quayle posting a tournament-low final round of 63 to finish at 11-under-par.
