The 77-year-old musician attributed his vision loss to a severe eye infection contracted in July while in France, which has left him unable to see out of his right eye and with limited vision in his left.
John expressed gratitude to his husband, David Furnish, whom he described as his 'rock' during his ongoing health challenges.
The vision impairment has affected John's ability to work on new music, including delaying a planned album with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin.
