Elton John Honored with 2025 Glenn Gould Prize for Lifetime Achievement

The award recognizes his profound impact on music, culture, and humanitarian advocacy, with a formal gala set for later this year in Toronto.

Elton John has been named the 15th laureate of the Glenn Gould Prize, awarded to living artists who enrich the human condition.
The prize includes a $100,000 cash award and a statue by Canadian artist Ruth Abernethy.
John was selected by a 10-person jury chaired by former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell for his artistic contributions and advocacy on issues like AIDS, LGBTQ+ rights, and addiction.
He will accept the award at a Toronto gala later this year, where he will also choose a protégé for a $25,000 award.
This recognition follows his 2023 retirement from touring and ongoing creative work despite health challenges, including vision loss.
