Several major companies, including Apple, IBM, and Disney, pulled their advertisements from X following Media Matters' report on antisemitic content on the platform.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has also announced an investigation into Media Matters for potential fraudulent activity, citing Musk's allegations about data manipulation.
Media Matters stands by its reporting, with its president Angelo Carusone calling X's lawsuit 'frivolous' and intended to 'bully X’s critics into silence'.
X's lawsuit and the Texas AG's investigation follow a wave of criticism and advertiser pullouts after Elon Musk seemed to endorse an antisemitic conspiracy theory on the platform.
