Eliud Kipchoge to Compete for Fifth London Marathon Title

The legendary runner, now 40, returns to London after a five-year hiatus, facing one of the strongest marathon fields ever assembled.

Eliud Kipchoge, widely regarded as the greatest marathon runner of all time, has confirmed his participation in the 2025 London Marathon on April 27.
Kipchoge, a two-time Olympic marathon champion, is aiming for a record-extending fifth London Marathon victory after last competing in the event in 2020.
The elite field includes reigning Olympic champion Tamirat Tola, defending London champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao, and British marathon debutant Alex Yee, among others.
Kipchoge, who became the first person to run a marathon in under two hours in 2019, emphasized his focus on training and his continued passion for inspiring global participation in running.
Despite a rare setback at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he did not finish due to a back injury, Kipchoge expressed confidence in his recovery and readiness to compete at the highest level.
