Overview
- Security forces neutralised Nambala Keshav Rao (Basavaraju) on May 21 in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad, the first top-tier Maoist leader killed in over three decades.
- The count of Naxal-affected districts has dropped from 126 in 2013 to 18 by March 2025, with just six remaining as most severely impacted.
- Operations this year have resulted in 178 militants killed and 356 surrenders to date, following a record 235 Naxals killed in 2024.
- Under the SAMADHAN strategy, authorities have built over 14,000 km of roads, installed more than 5,100 cell towers and expanded rural banking and postal services.
