Elektron Launches Tonverk, a 16-Track Polyphonic Multisampler

The $1,599 unit debuts a new platform, with direct sales already listed as out of stock and retailers taking pre-orders.

Overview

  • Tonverk combines eight stereo audio tracks with eight additional bus, send, and mix tracks, and each of the 16 tracks has its own sequencer.
  • Three sampling machines—Single Player, Multi Player, and Subtracks—cover polyphonic one-shots, multisampled instruments, and per-track subtracks suitable for kits and layered parts.
  • An Auto Sampler can build multisampled instruments by sending MIDI to external gear and recording the incoming audio, though current firmware lacks on-device sample editing.
  • Elektron’s extended sequencer offers up to 256 steps per track with polyphonic sequencing, parameter locks, trig conditions, micro timing, and deep modulation via multiple LFOs and envelopes.
  • Positioned as the first device on a new Elektron platform, Tonverk omits some Octatrack-style controls and conveniences, including fader/morphing and a dedicated sample chopping mode.
