Electrogenic Unveils EV Conversion Kit for First-Generation Mazda Miata

The plug-and-play kit transforms the classic roadster into an electric vehicle with improved performance and a 150-mile range.

Electrogenic's new EV conversion kit is designed specifically for the 1989–1997 Mazda Miata (MX-5), offering a fully electric alternative for the classic sports car.
The kit includes a 42 kWh battery pack and a 160-horsepower electric motor, improving the Miata's power-to-weight ratio by 21% and reducing its 0–60 mph time to 6 seconds.
The conversion preserves the Miata's renowned 50:50 weight distribution and handling characteristics, while adding approximately 220 pounds to the car's weight.
The EV conversion is reversible, retains trunk space, and provides a real-world range of over 150 miles with the ability to fast charge in about one hour via CCS plug.
Electrogenic's CEO highlighted the growing interest in electrifying classic cars and emphasized the kit's ability to maintain the Miata's iconic driving experience.
