Electrician Sentenced for Neglect Leading to Death of 10 Giant Tortoises

Gary Priddle, 56, admitted to neglecting 10 Aldabra tortoises over six days during the festive period.
The tortoises died from cold after their heating lamp failed, and Priddle dumped their bodies in East Devon woodland.
Priddle received a 12-month community order, 50 hours of unpaid work, and a 10-year ban on keeping tortoises.
Post-mortem examinations revealed the tortoises suffered from metabolic bone disease due to poor husbandry.
Priddle has surrendered over 50 other tortoises to police, who have since been rehomed.
