Election Commission Summons Punjab DGP Over Tarn Taran Bypoll FIRs

Overview

  • The Election Commission directed DGP Gaurav Yadav to appear on November 25 to explain FIRs and arrests during the Tarn Taran poll-code period.
  • Nine cases were registered across Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Moga and Batala, with four Shiromani Akali Dal workers arrested and six named, according to submissions to the commission.
  • The commission earlier suspended Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal and ordered an ADGP-level review of the cases after finding the initial police account inadequate.
