Election Commission Orders Special Revision of Assam Voter Rolls, Sets Feb. 10 Publication

The move tailors the update to Assam’s NRC process alongside Foreigners’ Tribunal cases.

Overview

  • Pre-revision work has begun with document printing, staff training, and field preparations ordered by the Commission.
  • Booth Level Officers will conduct house-to-house verification from November 22 to December 20 and must revisit locked households at least three times.
  • Entries marked as D-Voters will remain in the draft rolls without fresh verification unless a court or Foreigners’ Tribunal changes their status.
  • Assam’s revision will use pre-filled registers for verification, unlike Special Intensive Revisions in other states that rely on blank enumeration forms.
  • The qualifying date is January 1, 2026, and before final approval the CEO must submit statistical analyses and certify removal of duplicates and deceased or relocated electors.
