Overview

  • The Election Commission raised its webcasting requirement from 50% to 100% of internet-connected polling stations for internal monitoring on voting day.
  • Bihar Assembly elections, expected in October or November, will be the first to implement the full-coverage directive.
  • In locations without reliable internet, officials must organize alternative videography or photography to maintain continuous supervision.
  • Dedicated monitoring control rooms at state, district and assembly constituency levels will be overseen by nodal officers responsible for dry runs and live-feed surveillance.
  • Cameras are instructed to avoid recording ballot units or VVPATs to safeguard voter secrecy, and any irregularities must be reported immediately to election authorities.
