Overview
- The Xunta de Galicia has committed to finance 38% (around €12 million) of the tunnel’s total cost following talks with the Vigo city council.

- The approved design preserves the 17th-century Falperra bastion by bifurcating the tunnel into two parallel vials that create a protected island for heritage remains.
- Vigo’s Concello must now finalize the detailed construction plans and solidify the cost-sharing framework before the works can proceed.
- Once complete, the extension will link Policarpo Sanz/Elduayen with Torrecedeira under the Paseo de Alfonso to relieve chronic traffic bottlenecks.
