Elderly Targets of Shock Calls: Arrest Made in Ammersee Region

A vigilant senior helped police arrest a suspect in a series of fraudulent calls targeting the elderly, while other victims lost significant sums.

A vigilant 82-year-old man in Unterdießen received a fraudulent call from someone posing as a police officer, claiming his son caused a fatal accident.
The senior alerted real police, leading to the arrest of a 37-year-old Ukrainian suspect waiting in a car for the female accomplice, who remains at large.
In a separate incident, a 78-year-old from Scharbeutz was scammed out of €50,000 in cash and valuables by a shock caller.
Another victim, a 58-year-old from Landsberg, was deceived into handing over €20,000 to a female suspect after a similar fake accident story.
Police advise the public to hang up immediately if uncertain about a caller's identity and never to hand over money or valuables to strangers.
