- Greater Manchester Police confirmed an 81-year-old passenger died at the scene and a 75-year-old driver remains in a critical condition in hospital.
- The crash occurred shortly before 9:20am on December 8 on Dorset Avenue in Diggle, near the junction with Huddersfield Road.
- Police said the car was travelling southeast along Dorset Avenue and crossed the junction with Huddersfield Road before striking the building.
- Three fire engines attended, crews made the vehicle safe and removed one person, and they remained on scene for around two hours.
- Forensic investigators established a large cordon, Huddersfield Road was closed for several hours, and officers appealed for dashcam or CCTV from anyone who saw the vehicle before the collision.
