Elderly Couple Perishes in Washington Heights Apartment Fire

Massive blaze in six-story building leaves two dead, several injured; investigation ongoing

A 77-year-old woman in a wheelchair and her 73-year-old husband died in the fire.
The fire broke out around 1:45 a.m. in their top-floor apartment.
Six others, including three firefighters, sustained minor injuries.
Over 130 firefighters responded, taking two hours to control the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
