An elderly couple in South Carolina was found dead in their home, with the temperature inside the house measured at around 120F.
The couple's heater was found to have reached an internal temperature of 1,000F, leading firefighters to initially believe it was on fire.
The couple had complained about their heating system not working a few days prior to their death, and family members thought they had fixed the problem.
Paramedics were unable to accurately measure the body temperatures of the couple due to the device's maximum measurement of 106F, a temperature the bodies exceeded.
