Elder Scrolls Online Switches to Quarterly Seasons With Free Content, Battle Pass Launching April 2

Base-game owners get free updates under a pivot to an optional battle pass with earnable rewards.

Overview

  • Update 49 arrives March 9 with simultaneous PC and console release, bringing free respecs, account-wide outfit slots, faster mount training, restored 30‑day guild trader listings, and other quality‑of‑life fixes.
  • Season Zero: Dawn and Dusk begins April 2 and runs about three months, headlined by the Night Market event zone in Fargrave, a seven‑week, three‑faction PvE challenge that may return in later seasons.
  • All new seasonal gameplay is free for base‑game owners, with several older DLC folded into the base game, including Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and Orsinium.
  • Tamriel Tomes introduces a battle pass with a free track and two premium options, while the new Gold Coast Bazaar sells rotating earnable items for Trade Bars; Event Tickets are removed and converted to Trade Bars that must be earned in play.
  • Class and combat refreshes start with Dragonknight and the two‑handed skill line, with Werewolf updates later in Season Zero; ESO Plus keeps its price with monthly Tome Points and a premium Tome token after 12 months, and cross‑play remains in development without a near‑term launch.
