Overview

• The lightning-caused Elder 1 Fire has burned about 1,221 acres near Frenchtown and is now surrounded by control lines with containment reported at 34 percent.
• Incident managers have increased the response to roughly 284 personnel and added engines, hand crews, dozers and skidgens to support mop-up and line reinforcement.
• Crews are concentrating on holding and strengthening lines and maintaining firing operation results on the northwest ridge near Albert Point while patrols search for hot spots.
• A Red Flag Warning covers the area with forecast westerly gusts up to roughly 25 to 40 mph and a chance of high-based dry thunderstorms that could produce spotting or erratic outflow winds.
• Area and road closures plus a Temporary Flight Restriction are in effect to protect responders, and the incident team is working with county agencies and infrastructure owners to protect communities and power assets.
