Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion Set for June Release

The $40 DLC introduces a vast new area, over 10 new bosses, and continues the saga with intriguing lore and challenges.

  • Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, a $40 expansion, is set to release on June 21, introducing a new area called the Land of Shadow, which is comparable in size to Limgrave from the base game.
  • The expansion will feature more than 10 new bosses, including optional ones tuned similarly to Malenia, and eight new weapon categories, alongside new magic and weapon skills.
  • The Land of Shadow is physically disconnected from the Lands Between, with access provided through Miquella's cocoon in the palace of Mohg, allowing travel back and forth.
  • Messmer the Impaler emerges as a key figure in the expansion, standing on equal footing with the demigods and children of Marika, and is linked to the Land of Shadow's past and its significance.
  • The expansion continues to draw from George R. R. Martin's work, and despite its sense of finality, director Hidetaka Miyazaki hints at the possibility of more Elden Ring content in the future.
