Overview

  • The Elbtunnel on the A7 will be fully closed from July 4 at 22:00 to July 7 at 05:00 in both directions for construction work.
  • The shutdown enables integration of the Elbtunnel into a new tunnel control center and supports the highway’s planned upgrade from six to eight lanes.
  • The closure coincides with the start of summer holidays in Niedersachsen, Bremen and other states, and the ADAC warns of significant traffic jams and time losses.
  • Autobahn GmbH has designated wide-ranging detours for all vehicles and requires heavy transports to avoid the area, while the ADAC recommends using public transport for trips to Hamburg Airport.
  • Additional full and partial closures of other A7 tunnels are scheduled throughout the summer to continue upgrade work on sections such as Schnelsen and Stellingen.
