Overview
- She auditioned in 1938 and was selected as one of eight children who sang and danced in the Munchkin ensemble, appearing during “Come Out, Come Out” before “Off to See the Wizard.”
- She was eight during filming on the MGM lot and is identifiable in a dark green dress and hat at the rear pavilion of the sequence.
- As a teenager she declined a Paramount contract to attend college, graduating from Occidental in 1951 and completing a master’s at Cal State Los Angeles in 1953.
- She later studied computer science and theology and worked as a computer consultant for USC and First Interstate Bank.
- She is survived by her son George Christy, her daughter Annette Phillips, and six grandchildren, as fans shared tributes to her role in the classic film.
