Overview

  • Deputy CM Eknath Shinde directed the MSRDC to fast-track all ongoing road works across Maharashtra, warning of strict notices for any contractor delays.
  • He highlighted 31 km of incomplete concrete surfacing on the Mumbai-Nashik highway and mandated temporary asphalt patches where finishing work cannot be done before rains.
  • The Mumbai-Pune Expressway ‘missing link’ is now targeted for December delivery, and officials are studying a ₹14,900 crore plan to widen it from six to ten lanes.
  • Environmental measures span replanting 10,000 trees along the Pune Ring Road—4,000 replanted so far—and constructing 86 temporary disaster shelters in Konkan, with 37 centres already under way.
  • Shinde also urged rapid progress on the Konkan Expressway and Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth highway, slum redevelopment roles for MSRDC, and eco-tourism projects in the expanded New Mahabaleshwar initiative.
