Hemant Patil, who heads the Balasaheb Thackeray Turmeric Research and Training Centre, has been elevated to cabinet minister rank.
These appointments come as the Shinde-led government seeks to address grievances and maintain unity within Shiv Sena.
Further appointments are expected to placate other discontented MLAs and former MPs as the state assembly elections approach.
