Overview

• The blaze broke out around 2 a.m. in the boys' hostel of Papikrung Government Residential School in Shi-Yomi district.
• Police identified the victim as Tashi Jempen, 8, a Class 3 student from Chango village.
• Three injured students — Lukhi Pujen (8), Tanu Pujen (9) and Tayi Pujen (11) — were treated in Tato and are being moved to the zonal hospital in Aalo.
• Officers said the injured are out of danger after transfers from the district hospital for better care.
• A police team has been dispatched to the remote village, 17 km from Monigong, to determine the cause in an area without power connectivity.
