Overview
- The boy fell from a “normal ute” and was struck by the same vehicle around 4 pm on Tuesday near Baldock Road and Whitlam Street in Mount Helena.
- He was initially treated at St John of God Midland Hospital and then transferred to Perth Children’s Hospital where he later died.
- WA Police Major Crash unit and local officers have launched an investigation and say there is no sign of criminality so far.
- Police Commissioner Col Blanch confirmed that one of the boy’s family members was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
- Premier Roger Cook described the event as “incredibly traumatic” and urged greater caution around vehicles to protect children.
