Eight Men Charged in $400,000 Peel Mail-Theft Ring as Officials Weigh Deportation

A months-long joint probe uncovered a coordinated scheme targeting community mailboxes in Mississauga and Brampton.

  • Investigators recovered 465 stolen items valued at more than CAD 400,000, including 255 cheques, 182 credit cards, 35 government IDs and 20 gift cards.
  • Eight men aged 21 to 29 were arrested and collectively face 344 charges that include theft from mail, possession of property obtained by crime and related offences.
  • Police identified the accused as Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh and Upinderjit Singh.
  • Authorities say the Crown and Canada Border Services Agency are assessing whether deportation may be pursued for some accused foreign nationals, and all eight appeared in Brampton court for bail hearings.
