Overview
- Four college students died and one was injured when a car hit a roadside tree near Mirzaguda in Mokila, on Hyderabad’s outskirts, around 1:30 am on January 8.
- The deceased in the Hyderabad case were identified as Kargayala Sumith, Sri Nikhil, Balmuri Rohith and Devala Surya Teja, with three from ICFAI Business School and one from MGIT; Sunkari Nakshatra was hospitalised.
- Mokila police registered a case, shifted the bodies for postmortem at Chevella Government Hospital and said early findings point to overspeeding as the likely cause.
- In a separate crash on January 7, a head-on collision between an Ertiga and a Scorpio near the Chachadgaon toll plaza in Nashik’s Dindori taluka killed four people and injured six.
- Nashik police identified the deceased as three members of the Gurjar family from Rajasthan and the Ertiga driver from Silvassa, with the injured admitted to district and private hospitals as both vehicles were heavily damaged.
