Eight Injured in Balcony Collapse at Anglesea Home

A group dining on a second-story balcony fell 2.5 meters when the structure gave way, with all sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

  • The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in Anglesea, a coastal town southwest of Melbourne, near Point Roadknight Beach.
  • Three men, three women, and two teenage girls were injured, along with a dog, when the balcony collapsed during lunch.
  • Emergency crews, including CFA, FRV, and SES, responded to the scene, where three individuals were briefly trapped under timber debris.
  • Seven of the injured were transported to Geelong University Hospital, while all injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
  • The area has been secured, and a building surveyor will assess the structural integrity of the property.
