Overview

• Indian Railways and NHSRCL say structural construction at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora and Vapi is complete, with interiors, roofing and passenger facilities now being installed.
• New station designs aim to reflect each city’s cultural identity while providing calm, well‑lit spaces with clear wayfinding, lounges, childcare areas, food kiosks and multiple lifts and escalators.
• Sustainability features include solar panels, skylights and large openings for natural light, rainwater harvesting with recharge wells, sewage treatment plants and the use of eco‑friendly materials.
• Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Sabarmati and Surat are being developed as multimodal hubs integrating the bullet train with Indian Railways, metro networks, buses, taxis and auto‑rickshaws, with dedicated parking at all stations.
• Officials reiterate a 508‑km corridor designed for 320 km/h operation, an estimated Mumbai–Ahmedabad travel time of about two hours seven minutes, and financing led by an 81% JICA loan with the remainder from Indian equity.
