Security forces in Gwadar, Pakistan, repelled a major attack on the Gwadar Port Authority complex, killing eight armed attackers.
The attack was claimed by the Majeed Brigade of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), targeting the complex that is a key part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The operation involved nearly two hours of fighting, with at least two security personnel injured. Clearance of the area is ongoing.
The BLA has previously targeted Chinese interests in Pakistan, including an attack on a convoy of Chinese workers in Gwadar last August.
Gwadar's development is financed by China and is pivotal for the $62bn CPEC project, aiming to link southwestern China to the Arabian Sea.
