• Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie pleaded guilty on June 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia to wilfully harming a federal law enforcement animal.
• CBP agriculture detector dog Freddie was lifted off the ground by a forceful kick at Washington Dulles International Airport before being treated for contusions to his right front rib.
• Authorities uncovered over 100 pounds of undeclared and prohibited food items in Marie’s luggage, including beef, rice, vegetables, corn seeds and herbs.
• The court credited his time served then mandated repayment of the dog’s veterinary expenses before issuing a removal order.
• Marie was deported to Egypt on June 26 under CBP supervision.
